Metrication
This series was created from the need to understand the meaning of numbers in relation to distances and length. To find out, I took a reel with 300 meters, as the distance that I as a human can understand. With that ‘conceptual tool’ I started measuring the things I couldn’t understand. By adding maps to the works and to the actual reel, I was able to visually define the project I called ‘Metrication’.
Personal and universal distances
In the first years I mainly took personal distances as a starting point, but in 2007 a series was created with more universal distances, such as the highest and deepest point on earth, the height of buildings over time. The series of walls visualizes the absurdity and ambiguity of border lines: protection versus aggression.
