Looking at Islamic architecture I always have been fascinated by the lace – alike the structure of the ornaments used in the semi domes: Muqarnas.

Understanding the structure

This series of six works is an attempt to understand the basic structure of these mathematical and complex ornaments. I made these reliefs with a plaque of porcelain which gives them a very textile appearance.
