In Transit
A diptych of batik and embroidered textile that depicts two realities about the passage of refugees on their way to the Netherlands. The work is a tribute to all who courageously fight for their right to exist.

In Transit is a diptych that tells two realities.

On the left: in batik the vague memories of the journey translated into the geometric patterns of Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Kurdistan, Syria, Turkey, Hungary and the Netherlands. On the right: the application procedure for the asylum permit in the Netherlands.
The work is a tribute to all who courageously fight for their right to exist.

The twenty-five meters long, black on white embroidered text was created during her voluntary work with asylum seekers in the detention center in Soesterberg.
The work is a tribute to all who courageously fight for their right to exist.
