Rice Bowls
The offer bowls and containers I’d seen in the many shrines of Japan inspired me to make a series of over 30 rice bowls. Their forms vary between the traditional Japanese rice bowl and the particular shape of the rice grain. In Arita I made a site specific installation.

Installation with traditional rice dishes
An important part of Shintoism is the making and taking care of sacrifices at the many small and large temples scattered throughout the city and country. As a respect to that tradition, I made an installation with the traditional rice dishes. Here too I mix the porcelain with rice. The result is brittle and sometimes even broken; a good reason to carry out repairs with care in the well-known Japanese technique kintsugi.
